Hey Dead Winter

While I occasionally can't be arsed to read DW's posts in their entirety, I don't see why people are getting so worked up over this. If the guy wants to make long posts, let him - it's not your fingers that have to do the typing, is it? If you don't want to read the guy's posts, then don't read 'em. No need to start a whining match over it. There's far more annoying habits on these forums than DW's walls of text.

Why is this now about meeting people from the internet? The last three paragraphs of that post have nothing to do with the thread topic. And even if you are somehow trying to use "the internet isn't real." as a reason for posting excessively long posts, you're still going off on a wild tangent there.

It was a tangent that I took because it was something I wanted to say, regardless of the thread topic.

And I fail to see how it was off topic when the thread is about ME.

Or I could just do what you do and post threats about beating people up at Wacken.

You want anonymity, there's this fetid pit called 4chan waiting for you.

I do agree on hesitancy with meeting *some* people on the board, but you'd be surprised how cool some are face to face. Some, granted, I'd punch in the face upon introduction. Or glare at them until they felt realllly uncomfortable.

...

I was going to say something insightful but was distracted by an itch and forgot now.

I'm also morbidly curious to see you in rage mode now... nothing intrigues me more than when people claim they have a disconnect point where they let a tiny sociopath out to use the keyboard.

I've never seen myself in rage mode; I have lots of self-control, at least physically. I'm not a neanderthal.

Hmmm, maybe it's because I'm able to get my frustration out in a healthy and harmless way like RANTING ON AN INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD instead of beating someone up; what's more, my posts aren't even threatening in any way, shape or form. Some may offend your (in the second person) sensibilities, but I don't threaten people or anything. Furthermore, people who do threaten others make me laugh, because as soon as someone lays a finger on me, I'd do my best to make sure they'll never walk again. I guess that would be my breaking point, when someone attacks me. But then again, THAT'S NORMAL.

Of course you were being facetious, and I think we'd get along fabulously in person, but just for argument's sake let's say someone just up and punches me for no reason upon meeting. I would end that person with no remorse. People like that shouldn't be allowed to be part of modern society.

It's like anonymity but with feedback...I can control how close I want to allow people to get to know me. I see nothing wrong or strange about it. I mean, that's kinda why message boards were invented in the first place.

This.

It's not like I don't know I type lots of text and that no one has the time or patience to read it...I do it because it's something I enjoy doing when I have something to say and I can't speak about it in person. It's nice to speak to a wall sometimes, like writing a letter about your true feelings and then burning it. It's something for you and you alone, only a few people you'll neither meet nor come into contact with can read it and reply to it.

For the life of me, I really don't understand why it's such a big deal. We're not stuck in the same room together or anything.

Why do these people always seem to try to beat into submission people who think differently from them? I'm really beginning to think that this is an epidemic among all Americans, not just foreign policy.

I wasn't referring to punching you specifically, don't know why you assumed so. But not entirely facetous, there really are boarders that need a good battering.

No no I meant you were speaking in general, not towards me. I was trying to make the point that I wasn't speaking towards you as well and that I understood you weren't speaking towards me.

hahaha the ironing is delicious

You really like ironing or something? Do you use starch or steam?

I don't try to beat into people into submission or try to convert them to my point of view; in fact, I've already admitted that I type too much many times. My point is simply that I don't care. I will continue to do it as long as I feel I have something to say and that I enjoy expressing my point of view.

I'm not trying to get them to agree with me or change their habits, so why should I feel pressured to change mine? Because someone doesn't like my style of posting? I've said it before and I'll say it again: I. don't. care.

You wouldn't have to post sarcastic statements if you and everyone else would not get all up in a dingleberry about someone's posting style on a msg board, especially someone you'll never meet and you don't even like in the first place.

You people created and fueled this topic...I'm just responding.
