I thought about encouraging wife to write chick a letter. Nothing too confrontational, just adult-to-adult, "hey, you need to woman up and deal with the consequences" kind of thing.

It more than likely won't help your situation with your wife whatsoever, possibly make it a lot worse by re-inviting the drama that caused the scar that hasn't healed yet.
