i felt really sorry for that dude who always bats before manny ramirez, because he keeps being up at a crucial juncture and then striking out and looking like he's trying really hard not to cry as he walks away.

i just remember cubs fans harping that the red sox get all the publicity for not having won a world series since 1918 even though the cubs haven't won one for even longer, since 1913 or something.

the obvious rejoinder is that the red soxs' case is more poignant because they repeatedly have a great team yet still lose, while the cubs inevitably muddle around in mediocrity.

The Cubs were in the series sometime in the 80's. I just watched the episode where Punky Brewster got her and Henr seats in the dugout for one of the games. It was awesome.

I'm hoping that the sox make it to the world series, mainly to spite the jerk yankees. The child trapped inside me wants the astros to win it all though (ahhh, nostalgia). The child trapped in my basement wants me to feed it.
