Hey How many of you people...

School for the longest time. But now since I am taking my last class I can't wait to finish it off. It was pretty cool for the most part but now, the further I have gotten, the more it has become a job. No regrets though. It was better than sticking with a "real" job. :p
 
I prefer work over school. Even though now I have to complete more tasks and study more then I did during college. If I was out of school and broke then I would prefer to be back in school (you can always get a loan when you are in school).
 
I like studying but I hate students. I really hate student-humor with their shows where they joke about the periodic system or Napoleon. And then they run around town wearing overalls with patches. Dull people... they are so dull. When I studied I refused to go to any of the kick-offs. If I want to be lame I can do that alone or with people who are actually funny.

The studying part is a lot of fun. Self-discipline and curiosity.
 
Having been out of school for 8 years, I can say that work sucks. I teach English now, it isn't a straight 8-5, and I'm fucking grateful for it. I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't care, and it's a pretty good way to make a living here. That will end soon, which sucks balls. I don't believe there are many jobs in the universe that are mentally stimulating. On the other hand, my wife is doing a Ph.D. in anthropology, and there's no way in hell I could do that. I just couldn't. I'm not smart enough :goggly:
I say to her, "at least you don't have an 8-5" and she says, "would you want to do what I do?" Not in the least. But, she won't ever have to do a crap 8-5 like I do. On the other hand, we owe the Feds a ton of cash (loans), and it ain't over yet.

Where are you from? I went to a big-10 American university, and I didn't really dig the mainstream student scene (house parties and shit), not to mention music--sensitive college crap.
 
School was good when you lived at home, payed no bills and spent every living cent on cd's, lp's, smokes etc, etc. I prefer to work, make my own money, do what I want to do and buy whatever I want to buy.

Sweden, but I guess the whole university-mentality is about the same all over the world. For people who enjoy stuff like that, fine have fun. I however feel that the party mood and people are so fake.

I remember one early "winter´s out"-party in March, my class had planned to meet up at the university bar and have a party, me and some guys arrived late (we had watched some weird Snowwhite-porno with dwarfs). When we came down to the bar everyone was fighting and bitching, so much for the party-mood! Me and my friend walked back to his place and had some ganja instead of hanging with thoose spoiled brats.
 
Work.
I just dropped out of the university a month ago, so now I´m looking for a job.

However, if I want to go back to school later, I still got 3 years of state support left...

I think about entering the PhD program here in my department, but then I realize that I don't want to put up with the hell for the 6+ years it entails (4-6 years graduate school then 2-3 post-doc fellowship).

I actually got it made in my current position. Even though I'm a research tech with a BS, I still get to give my input on projects and even get published. Hell, within the next year, I'll be second author on 2-3 papers if everything goes right! :rock:

My husband has been doing night school to get his MS in Education the past two years, and he hates it with a passion. The only reason he's doing it is to get a pay raise and move from an initial to a standard teaching certificate. I'm sure it doesn't help that he has to teach all day and then attend a 4 hour class once or twice a week.

I agree with you, when you are at school there aren't no big worries in life, and when you go to work you get loads of money to buy nice things.
