it's avoiding the engine overheating, avoiding construction on the highway, avoid getting drunk before the show, avoid the rain fritzing out our gear, avoid eating questionable food, and most certainly avoid accidents getting there! I can roll my truck on the freeway on the way HOME. Just let me get the gig done!
Okay yes, that is a whole other set of concerns that you can't fake your way through. Advice here: remember that you aren't responsible for everything. Delegate some tasks to your band members and trust that they do it right. If you can't trust their abilities then find something you can trust them with and let them shoulder the burden. I know you, don't think I don't. I know you'll check everything five times before your confident it's good to go. That's great, but that's added stress which transfers into worry and nervousness. Trust your bandsmates and friends, and most importantly trust yourself to know how to get something fixed it goes haywire. You're the best and most dedicated when that happens, hands down! That's why I don't anyone else in charge of my stage crew at the defining event of my life, Texas Madfest. (shameless plug) Basically, deal with the stuff that you're best at and know that when problems come your way you'll get it resolved quickly. You cna't stop the stuff from happening, but you can stop yourself from worrying.
And boy do I know about, "sorry, I can't make it" at big important shows :Smug:
With all that said... HOW'D IT GO?
What is the date of the show??
