Hey musicians - when's the last time you've been TRULY nervous?

it's avoiding the engine overheating, avoiding construction on the highway, avoid getting drunk before the show, avoid the rain fritzing out our gear, avoid eating questionable food, and most certainly avoid accidents getting there! I can roll my truck on the freeway on the way HOME. Just let me get the gig done!

Okay yes, that is a whole other set of concerns that you can't fake your way through. Advice here: remember that you aren't responsible for everything. Delegate some tasks to your band members and trust that they do it right. If you can't trust their abilities then find something you can trust them with and let them shoulder the burden. I know you, don't think I don't. I know you'll check everything five times before your confident it's good to go. That's great, but that's added stress which transfers into worry and nervousness. Trust your bandsmates and friends, and most importantly trust yourself to know how to get something fixed it goes haywire. You're the best and most dedicated when that happens, hands down! That's why I don't anyone else in charge of my stage crew at the defining event of my life, Texas Madfest. (shameless plug) Basically, deal with the stuff that you're best at and know that when problems come your way you'll get it resolved quickly. You cna't stop the stuff from happening, but you can stop yourself from worrying.

And boy do I know about, "sorry, I can't make it" at big important shows :Smug:

With all that said... HOW'D IT GO? :u-huh:

We are opening for Epica.

HOLY FUCKIN FUCK was that a fun gig. Way too much fun. We played well over an hour cuz those ASSHOLES demanded an encore. Bastards! LOL We had a blast. Thoroughly worth it. One thing though... you know that chopping block bass I made? I played it through my new Eden rig for the first time, and it sounded PHENOMENAL. It cut through the mix like a lightsaber through a skyscraper in one slash! But my goofy retarded military-web-belt-converted-to-a-guitar-strap was fuckin with me so terribly, and it was sitting far too high on my body, I had to switch basses after two songs. That crap Ibanez Soundcrap of mine does NOT sound as good. I was mad. So I'm getting rid of that stupid strap and putting my old brown leather one back on.

So when y'all want your tickets for the Epica show in Detroit, we'll be selling them as soon as we get our hands on them.

I am GEEEEEEEKED!!!

Wow, CONGRATS!!!!!!! As if there was any doubt ;) Awesome about the bass - who knew?! What is the date of the show??

I've never been nervous for any gig.....40 people or 40,000--doesn't matter. Always just feel like the stage was my turf and I rule there. BUT, I used to get nervous as hell for baseball games and piano recitals, both of which I had less talent for than guitar, so I guess it just comes down to complete and total confidence in your abilities. So, if you've had success and good experiences in the past, then there's no reason you shouldn't have them again--no matter how high the stakes of a particular gig. Remember in "Hoosiers" (the basketball movie) when Gene Hackman and his hayseed team arrive in the big city for the final game and the first thing he does is measure the height of the basket so that his ultra-nervous team can see that it's the same ten feet as the hoop back home. Same thing applies here: The songs and your hands/voice are the same as they were before. So just do what you've always done and it'll rock.

Also, a few beers and a double shot of Scotch work wonders......:Puke:

Beer. BLECH. They had Bud, Bud Light, Michelob, and Mich Ultra Light. BLECH.

From now on, I'm packing Coors and Sam Adams.

But the Cap'n-N-Cokes worked wonderfully... :kickass:

Tammy... Sunday September 16th.

You drink... BEER?!??? :zombie: I don't think I've seen anything less than a Jack + something or Cabo + something!

*strokes her imaginary beard and considers the date*
