Wow ~ that looks really great. I picked mine up the other day .. they made yours with a way nicer looking piece of wood than mine (lucky!) and mine has a rosewood fingerboard. But I do really like it.

Now Jim, do you REALLY need another bass???
Well in fact I do. My other 5 strings are older G&L L-5000s which only have a single pickup a volume and a treble cut control.
More and more I find that the L-2000 with the dual pickups and the broad controls, the L-2500 is the same just with a 5th string, is what I prefer to use and can cover anything with it. I most often run it using both pickups at once. On occasions I will one pickup alone such as Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell I'll run the front pickup solo and Nightwish Dark Passion play I'll run the bridge pickup solo. Rush
The L-5000 can do a lot but nothing that uses a dual pickup sound.
Makes sense?

Matt had 2 maple necked ones delivered and this was heavier but had much better grain. I can cope with a little more weight. This is a little over 10lbs.
Didja get the switch/tone control primer I sent?

I know but someday you will experiment and get it. Guitar or bass it doesn't matter. Two pickups used together will sound different than just one, and one alone will not sound like two.

I didn't get it ~ was G&L supposed to give it to me? BTW, let Matt know that if anyone is looking to get rid of the orig BABE 4 strings w/ the ebony necks (yeah, right), I may be interested (even though the BABE logo isn't perfect) . I'm jonesing for an ebony neck but I can completely understand why G&L decided not to use those this time. Wasn't there going to be a reissue? I guess it doesn't matter since we probably won't be able to get the ebony.

Me either ~ haha!! Quite honestly, I've never gotten into the "geekage" part of being a bass player..although I sure appeciate people who are. I've always preferred keeping things simple: my amp is always set up to where all I have to do is plug in..although there has been a time or two where everything got completely undone by well-meaning people just trying to help - it took me a little while to get everything sorted out again. I think my perfect amp would only have an on/off switch and magically sound great all the time (not likely to happen though, haha!)

It's like cars - as long as it gets me from A to B, then I don't care what horsepower it's got or what the engine size etc!

Я наиболее часто бегу он используя оба чувствительного элемента сразу. On occasions я завещаю один чувствительный элемент самостоятельно such as рай и ад черного Sabbath's, котор я побегу передний запев чувствительного элемента и игра страсти Nightwish темная я побегу запев чувствительного элемента моста. Спешка L-5000 может сделать много только ничего использует двойной звук чувствительного элемента. Чувство моделей?

In a way. The middle switch has 3 position for coil switching, forward is series(bass boost), center is single coil, and back is parallel(humbucking).
Maybe W will bring hers to practice one time and you can hear the differences. The L series is more potent than the SB-2.
Listen to Rush Power Windows and Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell. Very, very different bass sounds but this thing with a flip here and a tone adjustment there can nail the sound of either.
It is equivalent to if you had a guitar that could be used for any song be it a Strat, a Les Paul, SG, or Telecaster tone.
Leo Fender created these and many of us feel it is his finest contribution to bassdom.

I blame and thank John Wetton. Put on headphones and listen to the bass sound on the beginning on Only Time Will Tell. I love that sound, but my P bass wasn't giving it to me no matter what I tried it wasn't getting there. Went shopping lugging the P along for A/B comparison and I laid hands on my first L-2000 and it gave me that kinda sound. Bought it on the spot.

my vertigo (which is at the shop cuz i noticed after mexico the body was split below the bridge) has coil splitting - never thought i'd use it as much as i do. same guitar i can cover most fender/gibson tones yeah - definately nice to have at yer fingertips. ahhh now i'm sad it's gone again

Is this one of those shops where it takes them 4 months just to get to it? I never give repeat business to such places.
