Damn...so much hate for Kurt Cobain!!! I knew he wouldn't get rave reviews from this board, but I didn't expect all the trashing! To me, you don't get much more emotion from a singer than this. That unplugged in NYC is a classic album in my eyes if only for the last song "Where Did You Sleep Last Night".
I also get tired of the "he killed metal" argument (and its variations). Nobody FORCED anyone to listen to his music. It spoke to large numbers of people and connected with them on a level that Poison, Warrant, Motley Crue, and Dokken weren't reaching.
I wouldn't use him to demonstrate to someone perfect vocal technique, but i do think there is a place on this list for raw, natural, emotion and delivery. For that I'd have to place him top 10.
I'm ready for my verbal lashings now.
