Thanks for the tips guys. Sounds like Cairns might be a go-er, just need to work out the logistics as we were planning on driving up to Townsville. Cairns would be pushing that somewhat. Need to sort the damn flights out - they've gone up about £150 since we first started looking. Damn you Singapore Airlines!!!

Cairns is still 1000km from Brisvegas. I hear it's really nice though.

At least the pound is a fair bit stronger against our dollar than when you first started looking!
