seeing Blind Guardian last night was one of the purest and most amazing heavy metal and overall musical experiences i have ever had. They were OK in Atlanta but they were obviously jetlagged and the sound was muddy. But last night they fucking made me so happy! Sorry to waste a thread on my excitement but it ruled!

Also I came home to find the two episodes of Buffy that i missed from my vacation waiting for me on tape. It was a good night.

they did the best they could without a huge choir of voices and a bunch of symphonic instruments. I was surprised at how HUGE it sounded with just the basic instrumentation they have(2 guitars, bass, keys, drums) but the crowd provides the choirs as BG are a very crowd interactive band and the keyboardist has alot of the textues programmed in via samples or really good synth sounds so it sounds very authentic and good live.

it kicks manowar's ass because blind guardian doesn't sing songs about how metal they are or how true they are or how much beer they can drink. also i didn't see any girls getting physically molested at BG's show which is a plus.

this is kind of an unfair statement because really there was no band that night who "crushed" the other one. I will admit that Symphony X put on a great show. They are amazing musicians and they are tight. However, in my opinion Blind Guardian were just the better band that night. Also it should be noted that I am a huge BG fan while I really don't like Symphony X's music at all. But I will admit that they did a good job. Its just a matter of opinion really.
