Here are some pics:
SCALZI!!!
Scalzi on vox/guitar, Jamie Myers on bass, and Sigrid Sheie on a 250lb Hammond Organ (no shit, it took the entire right half of the stage):
COBBETT!! guitar/death vox/blackened screams:

I had a bunch of other pics, but they came out pretty dark. Not worth uploading. Also, got a few MPEGS (too dark for image, but picked up some sound - not great quality - shitty little camera got all distorted up for some reason).
Anyway, the show was outstanding. I really didn't know what to expect, but these guys are total masters of their art. Really, just total improvisation and completely meshing together, and the fact that they've all been playing for years really shines through.
The tour is completely self-financed. Sigrid quit her job to go on the road. They're either sleeping in the tour bus, or staying with friends (or friends of friends) at each pit stop. They're playing a different city almost every night. Had a hiccup a week or so ago where they 'lost' Scalzi's main guitar and Jamie's bass. Had to somehow recouperate, get new equipment, and get back on the road.
Honestly, I can't say enough about this performance. Very humble band that was able to blow away the audience. Good litmus test: a friend of mine, Dave, goes to all the shows and I wasn't expecting to see him there, but he tagged along with two girls who used to live in San Fran and know the Hammers pretty well. Anyway, he's a huge death/doom fan, but pretty much appreciates anything from Maiden to Khanate. In his words, halfway through, as he leaned over and said "this is just about as perfect as it can get". Sums it up really. Needless to say, he bought the vinyl, Bastard CD, and a shirt on the way out the door.
Also, Hammers made the press in Time Out New York City I hear. Obviously word is beginning to spread, because some of the fans were all Greenwich Village types. You know, into all the cult indie alternative stuff. I'd say about 120 people showed up for the gig.
Set list (not all in order):
The August Engine Part 1 (blinding work by Scalzi by the way)
The Dragon is Summoned
*gets blurry*
Everything off The August Engine except for The Trial and the Grave
Hunting Tyrant
You Should have Slain me (creamed my pants #1)
Tyrant Dies (creamed my pants #2)
....AND!!! 3 new songs from The Locust Years. Un-FUCKING-believable. Seriously, to all those waiting for the new one, this stuff rules (at least in a live setting). Also, fans of The August Engine won't be disappointed, with it following on in that vein. Actually, one song was pretty much all out thrash riffs (with obligatory hammond organ harmonies, heh).
That is all.
