long and short of it:
Aysha has 400 minutes for June 23-July 23.
Aysha uses 390 minutes in July while we are looking for apartments.
On July 18th, we get a joint plan for 1400 minutes.
Verizon pro-rates Aysha's minutes down to 320 and credits her something like $1 or $2 since she's not getting the full 400.
Verizon charges us for 70 minutes over our now-320 minutes, which comes to like $30.
Now, I understand their pro-rating system, but the error happened to be our salesman--he should've either started the new plan on July 23rd or added a note to attach the plans (he didn't, so in the system it looks like a brand-new person/phone). Verizon told us if we call the store where we bought the phones they could fix their mistake and call the billing people.
Called the store and they told us we have to COME IN IN PERSON to resolve the issue. "But I moved out of state!" Too bad.
The best they could do was have us mail the bill and receipts to the store manager and she would get back to us. Sometime.
