Tell us!:Smokedev:

A couple years ago, being an extreme metal late bloomer and all, I was hosting a radio show with a buddy, and a dude requested Amon Amarth, who requested good bands as well, so they mustve been good. Then another buddy called, and another, and eventually it got me to go get some Amon Amarth since people wanted to hear it so bad. I first played it during a special fillin show on a Monday Morning on CKDU 97.5 fm in Halifax. Death In Fire it was. It fuckin ruled, and from thereon in I acquired more and more til eventually, I said shit, these guys fucking rule, and they became my top band finally in 2004, taking over for Slayer, who was my top band from 02-04. Before that was Pantera from 1992-2002, and before that was Metallica, and a number of other bands...
Anyways, the show was Heavy Metal Halifax at the time of this burst of requests for them, and it later turned into Extreme Metal Halifax, once I got more Extreme Metal. I ended up playing Amon Amarth every show...

You?

I fucked a viking bitch...during that she always screamed: "Oh yeah! You are as great as Amon Amarth!!!" Then I thought that they must be awesome......

No it was a mp3....i think "without fear" which impressed me a lot.

Hhahahahahaha Right on man hahahahhaha

By the way, yeah, the main dude who got me into them was Dramen who plays in a couple bands from here - Snowfall (Grim Black Metal) and God Impaler (Thrash Metal)... He and I are pretty cool, and he was the one person who really urged me to check them out, probably after going on one of my Pagans Rise Against Christians rants or something hahahah
Anyways, so yeah, it took one track and I was buying the albums constantly til I got all that I could find...

And why I got into them is the excellent blend of high quality extreme metal with the Pagan themery and folklore that closely fits my roots (Irish, Scottish, German & Viking), and my ideaology (Non-Capitalist, Chieftain Warrior & Divination/Clairvoyance Casting, etc..) and spirituality (Neo-Druidic Pagan). They seem real cool to boot!!

:headbang:

I got intrigated when my friend came and told me he got some AA album which was great. I borrowe it (It was "Once sent...") and I fell in love immediately :)

People are going to diss me bout this, but I'm a relatively new fan. It was a couple of years ago when the Death in fire had just been released and I was watching VIVA2 and I just thought to myself: "Awesome... Fucking... Music... (drool)" Plus they looked and sounded swedish... and wasn't those Miollnirs on the t-shirts and around the necks etc. I was just blown away - I had found My Band! Not only great music but also interesting themery (the "Viking" one).

By the way, I.m curios, Draoijedi..., how did you come to host a radio show? Sure like to do that one day...

People are really going to hate me :) I saw the video for Pursuit of Vikings on Uranium, or somewhere. I am not sure how I never heard them before that.

One day at lunch me and a couple of my buddies where looking for good music. So the name Amon Amarth came out. Death In Fire was the song…. Next day I was at the music store and bought the album. Now I have all there albums accept for the demo tape. And hopefully soon I will be getting the Scum 1991 demo. At this point I am absolutely obsessed with Amon Amarth. They are my Gods...

I'm a relatively new fan of AA... I've been listening to them since early this year. A friend of mine on this IRC room had this script with which he showed what song he was listening to, including genre etc.
He happened to be playing Versus The World, genre was "Viking Metal". Naturally I was intrigued, so he sent me the song. I fell in love with it instantly.
Unable to buy albums right away, I downloaded a bunch (shame on me, I know) but bought the albums first fucking chance I got.

Now that was a purchase I'll never regret.

well i'm a relatively old fan compared to you guys. I got two Metal blade compilations back in 98 when OSFTGH was released and they had Victorious March and Ride for Vengeance on them. That was it, been one of AA's biggest fans since then. Basically own everything rare of AA.

Why can't you spell 'except'?

I can't remember how i got into them....i think i heard Victorious March somewhere and inquired as to who this band was. Loved them ever since.

Either that or the fact that in a past life I had 4 love children with Johan....:D

A friend of mine told me about them when i asked him for some good bands...

I tried them and at first i only listened to Bleed for Ancient Gods.... Didn't quite like the others...
Then i started a bit on Death in Fire, then i saw the video and after that i was hooked!
Ordered all the albums right away.... but that's like everything i got except a Vodka t-shirt :(

Edit: That tatoo fucking rules PeganBlood!

Heard a track from The Avenger on a magazine sampler around the time it came out, and found the record used in a store.
