How far is this from album-readyness? :D

Yeah very good. It's a shame soundcloud uses such heavy compression as it really ruins the tracks.

Sounds decent. Guitars could be cleaner and dat snare sounds "fake", like its really obvious that its a sample.

tbh I compressed it heavily as well! :) so less compression, I'm going to try it! thanks!

When i mean compression i am talking about lossless compression. Soundcloud is really awful. I don't know what algorithm or rate they use.

Holy fuck this song is sick. The guitars sound fucking nasty (in the best way possible). Pretty crisp and cuts through well. I like the tone a lot and they are well distanced. I agree with one of the above comments about the snare sounding fake, but I actually think it fits. What Slate snare sample are you using? The thing that stands out the most to me with this mix is the lack of bass. I feel that if you brought out the bass significantly it could really make this mix killer. Great job otherwise though!

Snare sounds good enough for me, I'd fatten it a bit, and raise the bass guitars volume to drive those guitars, otherwise, fucking great mix.

Song is really cool!

some nasty ins guitar in there tho...0:30 for example...the new riff comes in a bit late.

Mixwise it's pretty thin imo...bass doesn't really have a lot of energy, guitars are scratchy, but it works for the song.
Drums are a bit thin, which wouldn't be that much of a problem if the bass was fatter.

love the ambient stuff at the end, also cool to see some of your songs again!

thanks everyone, great help!
I tried the above ideas, updated the mix in the 1st post.
I got kinda lost and I'm not sure if I made it better or worse. :)
the mix is distorted on my headphones, but other music is also distorted, so I have no clue.
did the 2nd try get any better?

I think it was american kit's snare (no more samples).
guitar is pod xt, bb model with stock IR, only some eq and saturation.

Your updated mix sounds much improved. There is certainly more bass presence and the guitars sound less harsh. Overall it sounds very solid! Good job!
