how far should I go for band practice?

We are getting together with a drummer and guitarist who lives far from our house. It is like a 30-40 min drive, but I don't have insurance or a car. There is a subway train that I can take but it costs about 7$ for a round trip.
We thought we could just meet once or twice a month and then practice in pairs, after giving it much thought, I don't know if to go for it or not. What is the farthest you guys have travelled for a band practice?

pay the 7 bucks to go their for the weekend and see how they are and how it goes. if you really like it, then id find a way to put about 100 bucks away for the round trips, and that should last you a while.....id try once a week if it went well.

my opinions, and ive never been in a full band so you may wanna listen to someone else.... (hey its 130am here and im bored, ill reply to anything)
