How many of you guys do this to save CPU?

That's how I looked at it until Cubase totally fucking screwed me last week. Haha. Probably not Cubase' fault. This is a massive, MASSIVE, project. I was asking for it.

This sucks, I have had that happen once but it was because cubase decided to crash on me and it just didn't want to work right after that (the project file not cubase).

Some sort of goofy midi error that would happen in version 3, used to make me RAGE.

Print Tracks FTW...

I'm using an ancient PC from '01-'02 so I can pretty much only have one track with FX on it at a time, haha... other wise my CPU has mini heart attacks..

God, I need to build a new computer... very sooooon...

SSD/Kontakt is definitely the worst offender for me. Most other things (like soft synths) don't really give me any trouble. Q6600 processor here. Would like to have a faster processor though...

Yup. I ended up unloading a ton of plugins that seemed to be conflicting and freaking out, exporting everything separately in a batch export, creating a bunch of presets and then creating a brand new project.

It kind of needed to be done anyways. That original was a horrific nightmare. Things are much better now, but it still freaked me out that Cubase lost track of what was frozen, etc.

rendering vs freeze has its ups and downs.
The good thing with rendering(in cubase) is that you can still mess with the track. As long as you don't wanna change anything to the rendered plugin.

When I was using cubase I used to look at the printed effects like tracking effects.
Things that you are certain that you won't be changing.
Minor comression,gates, and ampsims.

To freeze a channel only seems to stop my workflow.

I always seem to have to edit and mix vocals in a separate session , that takes up the most CPU for me , I guess cause there are so many plug ins going on. It sucks when vocals arent fitting , then I have to switch between sessions and eq the instrumental or whatever... I usually just bounce a wav of the latest mix into the vocal session, it seems to be the only way. And I have a quad core , Pro Tools is the only thing that ever freezes my computer.
