Yeah you should notice some "glue" effect if the MBC is applied correct. TC's MD3 is the shit btw kicks waves ass bigtime Mabye a bit expensive but you get a multiband comp, mstr bus comp, limiter and a tape simulator all at once, worht checking out..

yes or Protools HD, its by far the best mstr bus compressor plugin i've ever heard

I use only when mastering, not always, but it does help specially getting the low end tighter, most of the time don't use for anything else

My mastering chain always includes C4. Mostly i use it to fix or bring down the lowend and keep it tight. Same for any spectrum without touching the EQ.

hells yes, i love me some C4 on the masterbuss!

As most, keep the lowend tight, and it brings me more attack overall when setup right.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the C4 isn't linear phase so I wouldn't recommend putting it on the master buss. I'd use the LinMB Linear Multiband compressor by waves though. What you will notice is the lower frequencies around the cutoff don't sound as clear and as powerful, sometimes I guess you may fluke it and sure it could sound better.
