how many tracks of bass guitar?

hey andy/fellow forumites

how any tracks of bass do you guys usually do and what kind of of tracks are they-stereo or mono?

i like doing one stereo track of distorted bass and one stereo track of clean-

how did you do it on the machinhead and skinlab albums you were involved with andy? also what kind of mics do you recommend?

I tend to use a Beta 52 on the cab, and I'll sometimes use a sans amp on the DI and use mid range from that. It depends really, always in mono tho.

how do you usually pan the bass tracks?
I'm quessing both basically are dead in the center?-it's hard to tell when listening though so I'm not sure.
