Nope, unless the latency is too low for what I am doing. For tracking, I can get the latency down to 4-5ms; whereas with the RME I had it around 3-4ms. Not a huge difference, but hey!
How much better is a fireface's SOUND, than a profire, REALLY.

I'd say the Profire 2626 is a better choice, since you can use it in standalone mode too, and thus have 8 very decent pres to use with whatever interface you later upgrade to.

I'm currently using the RME/ P1 mix and it's pretty darn unbeatable for the price!
I'm getting between 2-3 ms of latency max... the PCI card with the multiface is why I bought it, the FF uses standard firewire ports. It can drop to 1 ms latency, but my pc isn't incredible. Never had a pop/ crackle or dropout with the RME stuff. Built like a brick shithouse too!

I say go find one used FF400, 800 or Multiface and buy it; they start to apear randomly on ebay these days; you will never regret...

But 2 mic pre's that probably aren't any better (from what I've heard, the mic pre's in the FF are the worst part of it) vs 8?
bought a new B stock profire2626 for $549. i'm just focusing on the fact that i'll still have my old crutch, elastic audio.
