Too many factors to consider to give an accurate estimate.
Studio time costs vary.
Depends how long you spend in the studio.....whether the guys in the band can get good takes down in good time or whether the guitarist takes 50 takes to nail a solo.
Do you have recording gear at home?
Can anybody in the band use the gear properly (ie engineer/editing)
Mixing and mastering will cost you money.
Artwork and printing covers/discs costs can vary.
My band recorded 6 songs at a friends place on his protools rig (for a small fee).
We paid someone to do cover art (8 page booklet)
We paid to get the songs mixed and mastered
We had a friend who printed the cover booklet-for a small fee again (500 copies)
We paid to get 500 copies of the disc replicated
We bought 500 cd cases off ebay and 2 long staplers...so we folded all the covers and did the other assembly stuff.
All this cost us well under $5000US
The results are okay...nothing that really competes with bigger artists...but pretty good for the money spent.
