Im playing with impulses and the tse x30 for some time.
The chain goes like this:
tse x 30->boogex->eq, I sometimes also use the TS vst with it.
Basically Im using the tutorials.I cant get that saturated/pumping sound, like for example this :

The guy even gave a faq about how to get that sound:

When I use this setup the guitars are dry/harsh.What should I do to give them life ? Am I missing something in the chain ?

of course you are. What guitar/pickups are you using? and this has been said 14 million times and many people will come in to say just that, but for some reason people still don't actually BELIEVE it's true, and it is, it fucking is, so here it goes: Tone is in your fingers. Really.

> Tune low with heavy gauge strings.
> Go easy on the gain.
> Hit the strings really hard.
> Blend the bass really well with the guitars. That's what you're perceiving as 'pump'.

That's not true...you can find hundred of guitarist using light strings that has an awesome sound...and viceversa.
The sound is in the hands!
And of course, you need a well played bass track because guitar on his own means nothing

Yeah, heavy strings are not a necessity.
If someone likes the feel of them, cool, but it's not for everyone and as I said, they aren't necessary.
Just play with good technique and it will sound good.
That means picking hard, and fretting notes consistently and properly.

Well, this is pretty funny because we are talking about my song as reference ;) I used an LTD mh400nt (emg 81/85) tuned in D with 12-54 Ernie Balls for this. tightness is the biggest secret to achieve big sound ( my opinion) and the most important thing is - tweak around!!! dont try to copy my settings because they are fitted to this song and your material will of course have another feel to it so it should sound different, too.( i have listened to your demo and i dont think this kind of sound does fit your style of music)... this is my first mix i am happy about, but it took me almost 4 years to get to this (and i still am a noob!)

This.

You could try to tone a little lower, but yours is not that bad.
Its mainly in the bass and kickdrums.
Your kickdrums are to clicky and don't have enough bottom end, and I cant really hear your base guitar at all.
You can also try to play the bass fingerstyle (you should always try) and really punch on the four or two to get a good beat and pump ito your song.
Using drop tuning helps for that effect, you can chug on the string an make it sound more meaty.

It really sucks to secretly re record a guitarists parts...which I have sadly had to do a lot

to tones is in your fingers.

second :composition and arrangement is a big factor.
if you write a riff that has no groove and no feel, because its was written in guitarpro
and does not translate into the real world you will ALSO get a shitty sound.

try master of puppets with the worst podfarm preset you can find. still it will sound like "music"
now take that same preset and play your own riff. does that sound like music?

then you got talent ! if not, id try drums. :)

i never liked lexTAC for heavier stuff at all, felt it had no attack and was better suited for creamy leads only. then harvey comes over and starts smashing the strings of this schecter and i'm hearing it from the living room, and i walk into the control room and i'm like dude what is that gnarly ass tone, save that ish right now. so he saved the track as a template, every setting, and when i try it it sounds like weak dook.

so ANYWAY... the point is... yea. tone is in the player.
