Do you guys do any processing to sub drops? EQ/ compression etc? I can't seem to get them to sound quite right. Also, do you tune them? Seems like some people do and some don't.
+1Who told you subdrops sounded good?
Since it's very low frequency material you might want to check on a subwoofer if it's not overpowering the bass too much. Also keep in mind that too much low frequency energy might prevent the master too be as loud as it could be. I would generally just highcut at 300 hz and if needed compress it with a short release to make the sustain longer. But it's all about leveling me for really.
I did what I'm talking about on this song at 0:23, 1:37 and 2:01.... I know 3 bass drops in 1 song is kinda "eeeeehhh", but yeah.

3 are no big deal. Check out Confessions album The Long Way Home. 15 subs in a song or so haha.
