how to place a bottom snare mix?

just one question - ca anyone post pics of bottom snare mic placement?

and any advices what could it be... i know that AKG 414 is good - what else?

Sm 57s, DS201s E604s at a push. Put them underneath, aim at the snares a few inches away and hit the phase reverse.

Like he said, few inches away, phase reverse (don't be afraid to move them around if they cancel each other out and sound odd) - but I'd use a 57 or i5. I'll try to find some good clips, but I may not find any really good examples.

There was also a discussion earlier about how to utilize both of them well that wound up containing some settings and ideal time placement for the most 'natural' sound, I'm not sure where it went though.

Put the snare mics in a 90 degree angle towards each other, and phase reverse the bottom one. That's it.

so as i understood i must put it under the snare few inches away (not inside!!!)

and i can get better results with instrumental dynamic mics

Condensers work just as well, too .

The DS 201 I mentioned earlier is a condensor. Forgot to mention my current favorite the c414
