Yeah that is indeed the best way, but the evil dictators of the house decided to buy some packet crap that just tastes horrible, and then someone "accidentally" places a piece of metal wire in there and the bag of popcorn catches on fire. That was not fun, because I ended up with no popcorn and the smell of burnt popcorn, which... is not a very nice smell.
Kids, that's why you should not put metal or popcorn in the microwave.
