I'm really just plugging my friend and her musical talent by doing this, but here's a mashup of some music I made and her vocals!

And the actual track for which those vocals were written.

If you like her stuff, please drop a like her way.

And the EP should drop on bandcamp in the very near future, I'll post again and successfully derail your thought processes for metal and replace them with angsty girl-with-a-guitar sexual desires.

Any thoughts on my metal mix though? Critiques welcome!

Thanks guys!

Vocals sound too disconnected to me (also in some parts of the original track btw). Very nice voice though and your music is an improvement over most of the original track ;).

I make very different music than this but I'll tell you what I would do. The changes that come to my mind when I hear this is.

Vocals:
Vocals are too dry, sounds very in your face compared to the rest of the mix. I would add some slight reverb and eq down some of 2-4khz and boost slightly at around 7khz. The result should be that the vocals will blend into to the mix thanks to the reverb and loose some of that mid freqs that is competing with the guitars, also the 7khz(this is relative, could be up to 10khz by the way) boost should make her cut trough nicely.

The guitars:
They are sounding way to "boxy". Im pretty sure this is from the cabinet, as your distortion is just about right and the amp eq sounds okay (Maybe slightly less mid?) Im guessing you are using some type of amp modelling, this reminds me of alot of the guitar rig/POD sounds. Try to change the Impulse Response, if you dont know what I mean you can find it on this forum.
If this is an actual amp + cab I'd say put the mic closer to the center of the cone (Very close to the edge of the speaker bell) Just to get rid of some mids and boost some highs. You can do this via EQ on the bus, but it's not ideal as you want as good as possible sounds before the bus.

This is just how I would do it. Hope you atleast get some ideas for any future project!

Good job mate!
