Am I the only person who doesn't like them? Have I not listened to the right CD's? I found them to be kind of trendy. And there sound wasn't that impressive. I liked CoB right off the bat, as soon as I heard them. But someone always puts them on when I'm smokin up at there house and even high, I was not impressed.

metallica....trendy? recently? then i can understand.....but only within the last few years. they paved the way for so many different bands (they weren't alone of cource.) maybe if you laid off the pot a bit and focused more on the music youd see a bit more than you do...or at least start drinking instead

granted i dont like metallica as much as i used too, they still rocked (yes rocked) ass

Laying off pot?? I don't think that's gonna help  But in any case, maybe I will check out some of there older stuff.
P.S. I drink but hangovers are a bitch. No hangover from being high. :D

Yeah, "Ride the Lightning", "...and justice for All" and "Master of Puppets" are the best albums, I think. They kick ass, just as well as CoB does. :)
Listen again, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy Metallica soon :)

Suggested songs:
- For whom the bell tolls
- Shortest straw
- Master of Puppets
- Fade to Black

I can only agree. Once you've heard their first four CD's you'll have to love them (or maybe five) everything that followed was just crap. Doesn't matter how long I think about it I still don't get how a band can change that way... .Let's hope cob won't follow!!!!:hotjump:

Hmm I think S&M is quiet a good metal disk :)
I like that epic feeling... And changing all these songs for orchestra ain't easy, too. So, if u don't like it, at least it shows Metallica really got some music theory skills :D
Load and Reload... Well, they're not as "metal" as the discs before and they aren't as varied, either, but they don't really suck, as some like to say ;)

tHrash please :D
Of course, Metallicas best time was from RtL up to the Black-Album, which, I must admit, I don't like that much. The music they produced after just doesn't kick ass anymore (hmm well except the S&M :D )...
So, I know what you mean I think ;)

I say this what the others say: The old stuff is Metal history and the new stuff (since 1996) sucks like hell.

I heard that the new Metallica album will be released in autumn this year and it would contain some songs with a rapper. I have nothing more to add if that's true.

Yaah OK, about the Nu Album...
I must admit I'm ashamed about that...
How can such a glorius Metal Band change from their style to something that awful???
We'll see what the Album will be like, but I expect it to be some piece of Mainstream-Bullshit... :(

lets see...
the song with the rapper (at the moment i cannot remember his name) is going to be released on a rap comp and not the new metallica album (which is not going to released in the fall. they still havent returned to writing/recording.) The rap song was recorded while Jaymz was in rehab, so it consists of lars and kirk with whatshisface. The song is mostly guitar 'chugging' as used in "I Dissapear", with a really short lyrical rap by whosiewhatzit. As far as i know, they are not going Nu-metal, and are going to be doing stuff more like "Dissapear" which im not too psyched for anyhow.

dilema: Well, ok. But I don't care either. 'tallica are dead for me. I'm sure the new album won't sound like metal which I like so I really don't give a shit if they record an album with no or 10 rappers on it.
But thanks for your corrections.

I´m fucking tired of this "Metallica" thread. For God´s Sake, aren´t you tired??
It was normal in 1996 and 1997 (or even 1998), but 6 years later, are you still discussing this thing??? "Why they aren´t metal??" "Why did they cut their hair??"".
Come on...... if you like Metallica, enjoy their fuckin music (I do it), and if you don´t like it, there are millions of bands out there.

I think you agree that there's a certain difference between Metallica and "a million bands out there" ;)

One cause for this non-ending discussion my be that some guys don't get tired of listening to Metallica, and everytime they do, they wonder about how a band could change that drastically.
But that's just my 2 cents... ;)

zarok: they are dead. i know this. and i wasnt trying to correct you, just trying to point out the fact its not as bad as it seems. and for the record, i would not buy the new album.
