I finally got to use PT8...

and I hate it. Sure it's pretty much the same as 7, but I hate the look. I couldn't navigate for shit because everything looked so different. It also threw me off when trying to do certain things, thank the dark lord i know my quick keys. I really don't want to upgrade from 7.4 now.

what's everyone's opinion on 8? Now that it's been out a while and I'm sure people have been able to formulate some impression of it.

It's been great to me so far. Some things are in different positions, but for the most part they are located even more logically and the software is even more accessible to those crossgrading from other DAWs. Just a matter of adjusting - is all.

i love it. actually feels like a system worth upgrading for (i jumped from 7.3). havent found any bugs nor heard of them either. IMO, the interface is better, the navigation is better. but most impt, the expanded track count and the free plugins rock.

I like the fact that you can see the fucking lines through the wavform now. I also like the cubase style overview at the top of the sequencer, helps navigate larger projects.

I dig 10 inserts now as well.

The new plugins are good to.

yep, thats the most important improvement IMO....HUGE help during editing

I love it! And if you don't like the dark look, you can lower the saturation/brightness and it will become more similar to the 7.x version

i hated it, ive only just upgraded this past week caus i felt like i had to for a number of reasons, but im not finding it as bad as i was making it out to be! oh and in agreeance about seeing the lines thru wave forms!

Also, not to make fun of you, but did you know that no one died or was even injured when it collapsed? I'm sure you've got some deeper meaning for it though, I'm just curious!

I dont like it. I find the scrolling is really slow and so far there's another bug where you use the ; key to scroll down on the edit page it jumps to the top of the session.

Seriously though; I think we just had a moment where we all clicked. A shared interest in science and structural failure, and after seeing the newsreel of the "disaster" and reading about how the only casualty was a three-legged dog, it just seemed too funny to not use it.

yeah can do that... its defiantly slow if you drag the scoll bar.
If you use the nipple on the mighty mouse it seems alright; although sometimes the waveform calculation seems to be a little behind you.

You have been on tools for a long long time Andy it'll take a while to get used to.
But when you do; you'll look at a versions prior to 8 and say
"FUCK how did i cope with THAT!"

Try holding the shift button and scroll horizontally with the mouse wheel...slow
A turtle is just way faster!
I used a lot the horizontal scroll in the past, but this sucker is slow !
