and it was really good! i'd never had tapioca pearls in a drink before. i even got my cautious roommates to try it by claiming they were like "unsweetened gummi bears"!

They call them pearls out there? The only term for them here is "bobba" (pronounced boh-bah, like toga). I had my first experience in February. They're not bad, but I liked the tea part so much that I would try to suck up a lot of it in my straw, and the bobba would go shooting up the straw and directly into my tonsils before I even realized what was happening. Somewhat gag-inducing.

to get the right consistency when making cherry pie, you use tapioca pearls in the filling. Cherries, sugar and pearls - stir - and let sit.
The pearls don't dissolve or anything? 'cause I don't remember anything chewy and pea-sized and black swimming around in cherry pies of yore.
