when i say connect to a mutiplayer game over the internet do i get charged one phone call? or say when i connect to msn or other chat programs?

If you are on dial up...you only pay for the call that connects to to the internet.

All the stuff you do ON the internet doesnt cost you extra phone calls.

Unless you install some dodgy porn thing that makes your phone dial to remote locations in the South Pacific and racks up your phone bill.
