I joined the right side of the Force...

4 gig of Ram? Fucking nice. My wife would literally pry that g5 from your cold dead hands (after killing you for it). I'm PC, she's Mac, and that new box of yours is supa-fly.

Yeah that's cool, I didn't use it seriously yet though, just learning things about Mac OS X so I couldn't comment but this is known to be the most powerfull machine on earth, so... :) Price was around 4000 euros with the Apple care thingy... I wanted the 23" screen but finally, I decided it was safer (bankwise) to wait a bit...

By the way if you guys know nice freeware plugins for it I'd highly appreciate since I never touched a Mac before... :)

Nice machine. Hope it doesn't start leaking :p

Actually apparently the new models are improved so it shouldn't. I don't know anyone personally who has had it happen yet, but that would suck.
I'm wondering how much better the new Mac Pro's will be due by next year. The performance increase seems to be a lot for the Intel laptop line.

Personally I'd skip out on the overpriced Monitor. Get a Dell, it's the same thing basically, I have friends with both, slight differences but for the price point... At least the 20" is basically the same, not sure about the bigger ones but I wouldn't be suprised.

I have an Apple 23" Cinema Display at home and a Dell 23" display at work. Here's my thoughts:
  • The Apple monitor is much nicer looking, and will enhance the aesthetics of your studio. It's a work of art.
  • The Dell monitor is cheaper
  • The Dell monitor doesn't get as clear of a picture (but it's not bad by any means)
  • The Dell monitor is clunky looking and has lots of card slots, if you're into that, go for it.
  • The Dell monitor makes it easy to have multiple computers/video sources hooked up to it without the need for a KVM switch. It's very cool that way!
  • The Dell monitor is more positionable (you can do all kinds of strange shit with the position adjustments)
