I woke up today with a fucker of a migraine, had one of my folks call in to the agency for me and tell them if I felt up to it I'd come in later on. Got a call at 4pm saying "don't worry about going in tomorrow, they are going to try and work without you. I will call you tomorrow and have a chat"

Now what's really pissing me off about this is... they didn't even say that to me, they said it to my mother! I was in bed trying to sleep off the last of the migraine. They are understaffed, a week behind and I haven't shown ANYONE how to do my daily reports... but if they call me back in, I'm going to tell them to shove the fucking job!

Sorry for the rant.....

They've let a few people go from my job recently. We're almost entirely temps there (in fact, I think only one person on the floor is permanent full-time). Five people were let go last Monday, four because they were slackers who weren't very good at their job and didn't take kindly to higher-ups (which is everyone - they were entry-level staff) asking them to do stuff, and the other because he apparently just showed up when he felt like it, etc.

That's the nature of temping for ya.

But Todd... have you really lost your job yet? Maybe they're actually just saying not to force yourself to come into work tomorrow, take the day off and rest, etc.

Be positive maybe the are gunna offer a full time job, they really can't indicate to a 3rd party whats going on with your employment.
Hope it works out dude.

Nah I know for a fact they aren't... without going into too much detail, the company is relocating it's head office to Brisbane but keeping a small team in a new office down here. This was meant to take place in the next couple of months so I knew my time there was limited but I was basically promised that I'd stay on after the move because I did work there no-one else knew how to (since I created the reporting structure)

i hate agencies, i go through one, the upside is i get paid an awesome hourly rate to sit at a desk tapping a keyboard mindlessly whilst listening to metal, with absolutely no pressure whatsoever on the amount of work i do
