I got a mesa oversize cab the other day and my engl sounded sort of hollow compared to it so I opened it up and it had a very thin layer of acoustic foam on the inside of the rear panel.
I ripped that off and put some high quality deep acoustic panels there instead.

The difference is unbelievable. It now sounds super tight and clear with great punch in the lows and great mid/top clarity.
If this hadn't worked I was going to sell the cab but now it is a viable alternative to the recto cab and sounds great with my 6505 head allowing me to track through mesa triple rec with recto cab and 6505 with ENGL cab at the same time to give me options in the mix.
I was worried this mod may kill the top end but it has actually improved top end clarity.
This is an ENGL standard cab with speakers changed to V30s.
I will post a clip later when I am at the studio.

4 panels at €10 each. Cut to size.
They have a price list on their site

I am recording an african gospel group for the weekend so it is very unlikely I will be using the ENGL cab:)
I will reamp and put a track up on Monday with the ENGL cab.
What head do you want to hear it with.
I have triple rec, 6505, dsl100, H&K triamp.
I could do left/right guitars on their own then bring the rest of the band in for a few bars to give an idea of isolated sound and in the context of a mix.
