Red Wire impulses

Guys, I blew it. I was wrong. This guy's legit, and his IRs are actually really good. It's just a crazy set of coincidences, but he's provided proof and I believe him completely.

Please delete any quotations of my original post, thanks!

I wish him the best and I am very sorry...

Must of been some crazy crazy set of coincidences considering the earlier evidence you posted?

I just bought/downloaded the Recto cab ones, but I'm doing an assignment and it is late, so I'll get something up within 24 hours...maybe with a couple of different amps and amp sims. :)

Looking forward to have a bit of a mess around. There are TONNES of options it may even confuse me a little.

Got several minutes today. Here's my quick comparison.
www.semargl.com.ua/blacklight/ir_comp.rar
The chain was:
Dean 30th Anniversary USA -> TS9 -> 2ch Mesa triple recto -> slave out on impulsed examples, SM57 on Mesa OS & ENGL XXL PRO on named clips.
The mic position was the edge of the cap on axis as closer to the grill as possible.
The redwire impulse was mesa cab, sm57 cap edge 0inch.
The recabinet impulse was ghandi cab, sm57 mic, EL34 edge grill. I used EL34 because they seemed more neutral then 6L6 compared to the redwirez (wchich are recorded using bryston 4b poweramp)
NO EQ USED, everything is completely raw and untouched.

Thanks for posting the clip! They sound very close to each other, and completely different than the miked cab. If anything, I like both of the IR tracks better than the miked cab.

In short, I think Redwire is a great addition because it gives you the Neve preamp flavor, whereas Recabinet gives you the API preamp flavor. As a user, I'm stoked to have both!

+1

have you thought about offering recabinet
in single box packs as they are available from redwirez!? :)

cheers

Still quite interested in the Redwirez impulses, but I think Recabinet pewps all over it + the real mic'd amp - imho.

no comment on this!? :)
my PM is also unanswered, me didz sumthing wrong!?:u-huh::grin:

I'm really sorry for being slow getting back to you. I've been out of town for the last couple of days with only limited net access.

Before I launched Recabinet last year, I had thought of perhaps offering individual cabinets as a-la-carte product downloads. The main issues I foresaw with this approach were (a) it would make the purchase process more cluttered and potentially confusing for the customer (b) it would make version control more time consuming. Also, I felt that the price point is low enough that if somebody likes the (pretty generous) free demo IRs, they are likely to get the full version and be able to tap into a lot more tonal flexibility.

When you consider that, with either Recabinet or Redwirez, that you can get thousands of cabinet IRs (sampled in pro studios using some of the best equipment in existence) for less than the price of a cheap stompbox effect, it's hard to imagine why somebody would want to pay actually more per cabinet by buying fewer IRs at a time. But then again, we are talking about musicians as the market for these products, who make purchase decisions like this all the time.

Perhaps Recabinet will offer individual cabinet downloads soon... considering it at least.

i think you'd be better off, rather than selling individual cabinets, to sell them as packs with 2-3 cabs bundled together, sort of like slate's doing by offering the EX drums with what, 10 kits per pack?

Shure SM7: Kind of like an SM57 that's all growed up and has stopped borrowing mom's car to take the girlfriend to rock shows to impress her with wicked moshpit wrestling moves... Yeah... we don't know what that means either. Suffice to say, it's a lot like an SM57 with a less pronounced proximity effect up close (probably due to the recessed capsule) and extended highs. It has a similar vibe to the TAB57, so if the schedule was tight, we dropped the off axis positions on this one.

 WANT

We've already got Recabinet Modern and Recabinet Vintage, in addition to the Recabinet Complete bundle. I think the next logical step would be individual cabinets.

The only way to REALLY know if this is a good idea or not is to just do it, so we will try it for a while and stick with it if it works. Either way, we'll make sure that anyone who buys individual cabinets has cool upgrade paths and options as Recabinet evolves.

I'll post a new thread as soon as individual cabinet downloads go live.

ppfftt.. they're cheap enough. People should either just stick to using your free ones, or buying a pack or both. I bought both without even trying any of the vintage ones, because the modern ones were so strong; and the two combined really isn't expensive.

yea seriously...i haven't paid much attention lately, but it's what - like $40 for all of the impulses?

for that price, i honestly wouldn't even bother selling individuals, or even a scaled-down version. if dudes can't put together $40 for hundreds of great impulses, they have bigger problems on their hands!

OTOH it's your business, not mine, so do as you please!!

no problem about that man!
thanks for the update!:)

@drew_drummer, colonel kurtz

right now i don't have much money, but in general spending money
on a great product is really not a big thing for me!

the main reason that makes me want single cabs is the incredibly
big amount of IR's that are offered.
if i purchase the complete package i HAVE to try every
single IR...just thinking about that makes me really nervous...
i just managed to clean up my free IR collection...had a week full of sleeples nights...

cheers
S.

PS:
$69.99 for both IR packs is a great price,
no need for price discussions here!:)
