I recently recorded a young metal band. Everything had to be done very quickly since they couldn't afford much time in the studio. I think it turned out ok considering the use of cheap guitars and old (thin) strings uke:

I usually make several versions of each song with different levels and settings, but this time i didn't have time to do so.
The mix is far from perfect, I have some things I would like to change and it would be nice to have other peoples opinions of the mix. Bring it!

Guitars sound really muddy and there is too much fizz on em as well. Snare is buried under everything. Kick has no punch and the mix sounds kinda smashed. The toms sound kinda off too. I don't know how to explain it. Taking your situation into consideration though, not to bad! Try to get that snare a little louder.
