was listening to this CD for the first time in a little while and reading the lyric book.. when "I see spirits in the mist" came on and I read the lyrics... i suddenly knew exactly where Eric (presuming he wrote the lyrics) got his inspiration for this song.
i don't know who's seen the movie the "13th Warrior" or read the book "Eaters of the Dead", but this is where he got the lyrics of his song from.
The start of his song says "Cast in bones, angel of death, thirteen moons, thirteen men, prepared to die..." There is a seer who casts bones and determines 13 men must make a voyage into a kingdom in the northland to aid a king in his battle against... the eaters of the dead.
"the fire serpent roars aloud, beheading beasts, devourer's of flesh" the eaters of the dead, as they are called, attack only when there is mist, and they come from the mountains bearing torches. this is called the "fire wyrm" in the movie. they behead their victims and supposedly eat them.
"outnumbered, waiting to die. decapitation of the queen will set us free..." when the warriors move to attack the camp of the eaters of the dead, it is them against an army. their goal: to kill the queen of the eaters of the dead, so they will be without leadership and will hault the attacks.
felt like sharing that information... it's cool that they wrote lyrics about it [the book, or movie]. as you now know that Dragonlord has written a song about it, go rent the movie "the 13th Warrior" and watch it! good viking movie, awesome song. become one with the knowledge!
