I think ATG and Carcass should co-headline a US tour.

 That's just kinda funny. I don't know why I laughed at this post. I don't get how bands like that can be sell outs. Besides, Melodic Death Metal is a more streamlined version of Death Metal anyways, so that argument doesn't hold much value.

I don't think they're necessarily all that technical of a band I don't see anything too special there. There are much more tech bands out there. I Think TRitSiO & TSD are their best albums. Also, to WeAreInFlames - TRitSiO has great production. You shouldn't undermine that album's production as there are much rawer albums & bands out there. WFIKtBD is their weakest link, I think. SotS is kinda weak too. I just started listening to them about a month ago too.

If you think that TRitSiO is in any way streamlined compared to the majority of death metal around at that time then I really don't get what you're listening to, besides complexity =/= technicality anyways.

I think ATG and Carcass should do seperate tours and for the last one play together and pack a huge venue.

I always thought that the gothenburg melo-death stuff had parallells to the big bay area bands.

In Flames was it's Metallica

Dark Tranq was it's Megadeth

ATG was it's Slayer.

I'm drawing these parallels of course from their compositions. Any one else see it?

In Flames covered "Eye of the Beholder", ATG did "Captor of Sin"...

Oh wait, DT did "My Friend of Misery." So much for that coincidence.

In Flames and Metallica work, but DT hasn't gone down in quality nearly as far as Megadeth did. And Slayer didn't break up like ATG did.

How? Good guitar playing + good production - absurd lyrics
Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, Risk, The World Needs A Hero, and The System Has Failed are all much worse...

Rehashing riffs doesn't make a good record. The lyrics on this disc are some of the worst that Mustaine has put out and the only song on the album worth anything is Washington Is Next!

The System Has Failed is a solid disc all the way through (except I Know Jack and Shadow of Deth), Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings all destroy United Abominations. 'Trust' is better than any song off of UA

I would give my right foot to see Carcass live.

same.

i hope they tour the states to instead of just doin a few of those big european metal festivals and callin it quits.
and if not with ATG, with other actually good bands.

I think we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this, but for the record you're absolutely wrong.

Can we at least agree that the soloing on UA is better?
