I think Im in love....

I know their not metal guitars but Im surprised a few people here dont have at least some appeal towards archtops, someday Im going to get one for my soft stuff. Problem is nearly no manufacture makes lefties, some are laminated maple tops which kinda defeats the purpose, a few that did make lefties like Epiphone & Ibanez have stopped, top quality solid carved spruce tops are unbelievably expensive and the used ones going up on ebay are selling for more than they retailed for. Heres one example of a laminated maple top Ibanez that sold for more than new retail, but it came with a case and a few DVD's...

beautiful

I love archtops...not too big on that one though. If I had the money, I'd get a custom Eastman...possibly in a 7 string. I think my favorite hollowbody that I've ever played heard, though, is the Godin Montreal...which I WILL definitely be buying (hopefully within the next year).

The ibanez stuff is great for the money, and I've come very close on a few occasions to buying one of the Artcore Custom models, but the second I stop thinking about price I'm very quick to look elsewhere.

Not sure what one you are refering to "prog". I just see a nice flat top acoustic ?

yea Meedley those hand carved jobbers are sweet but my playing skill or amount I play this type of stuff just doesnt justify that money. I just have a few funky rythmns I use 7ths, 9ths and I think its 13ths on and would like that mellow sound. then I would probably be inspired onward to a few more rythmn progressions.

Do you even not like the darker burst w/conventional jazz cutaway as seen in the Hagstrom web site ? I figure at least its a spruce top even if its laminated, but maybe that defeats the purpose, still I want to stay away from maple tops, regardless of how beautiful they are like that Artcore. Ibanez signature models are way over priced, I dont want a name, I want a nice neck, decent looks and good sound.

Heres their "best" (most expensive) model

I think its beautiful, is proper Pup setup with the neck floater, but it is a laminated, not sure about sound from Mahogany top, it is made in China, and the only review I found on it was bad....... lol. I guess these are around $1000 right handed w/case.... I just can't go $3500 for a friggin guitar, even if I had more talent I couldnt spend that much and feel good about it...... nor would my wife...... lol !

ah crap, the link screwed up...

I do actually have one of their acoustic guitars, they're unbelievable guitars for the price, made in Australia with all Australian timbers etc.

I'll post a pic of the hollowbody tele that I'm looking at... Standby...

Godin is fuckin awesome stuff.
I played Godin guitars when I was in Montreal; they played SO well, but the instrument itself felt so small. It sounded great,a nd I was really flying up and down the neck. I'd buy oneif I lived in Canada.... and if I had the munnies.

heres a less expensive guitar I like alot, this is the third I've seen these people sell. Its a no frills, laminate, Korean made, small 15" body but full 3" depth, single floater. I looked them up, they were discontinued a few years back and these are laying around. When dealers got tired of sitting on them they were selling for 450 but like I said with the ebay bidding craze and no one making lefties anymore now they are bringing above their origional retail

pain right in the ass, nobody carries anything, in bigger stores you can usually find one LesPaul, one Strat, and one Tele, one acoustic and maybe one cheaper other brand. The "other" brands are never any better than my Kramer and even Strats(american) are out of my price range today and not what I want for the heavy riffs, but other wise I love the Strat sound. LP's forget about it, aint gonna pay that kind of money. I was lucky with the Kramer & Vantage, both were used and I stumbled on them, both pretty decent guitars. The quality of the Vantage ($225) is excellent and sounds nearly as good as a LP to my ears (less sustain), excellent action too, but then I needed a more "metal" guitar and found the Kramer, $275 and I was in business with a real floyd rose and a single coil neck Pup for the clean stuff.

Still dont have an acoustic, my first guitar was a $20 Montgomery Wards acoustic with 1/4" action...... best way to get calouses fast, sold it after I got my first (right handed) cheap "Clovis" electric back in the early 70's , wasnt a bad guitar after I narrowed and reshaped the neck, cut a 1" half moon out of the "proper" cutaway, put a Gibson humbucker in the bridge position, sanded off the fire engine red paint and made it natural, it had maple veneer top and back which looked pretty good.

Ah the good 'ol days ........... :)
