Ibanez S470

It's excellent. Played one in a store, it was probably the best ibanez I've ever touched. Much better than the rgs, even the prestige rgs(imo, I hate their tone)

Edit: Forgot to add that you might wanna swap pickups. Other than that...

The S Series is the best of any of the Ibanez series imo, and the S470 is the best non-prestige S series Ibanez offers. The overall feel of it is just quality, great mahogany wood, none of this basswood nonsense.
If your thinking about getting one, i recommend it strongly, it's a great guitar, though definatley play it first and see what you think.

Ah yes, I have one of these: S520EX

It's really, really great. The only downside is the 22 frets :/

The 22 frets doesn't bother me. =D Sounds awesome, I think I may get one after xmas. =)

How much would a hard case for it cost?

Btw if i'm not happy with the pickups i'm probably going to get DiMarzio evolutions or passive EMGs. What do you think of that? Would it suit the tone of the body?

It's a generic shape so you could get any old case, I found a Stagg hardcase for £49.

Get Bare Knuckle Pckups if you have the cash, custom hand wound with custom covers, anything you want he will make it, though they cost a bomb, but they would sound huge in that S470.

They are.

Specially considering how much they cost.

You can get MUCH better bang for the buck by going dimarzio or seymour duncan.

okay, yeah i wouldn't actually buy them to put in a guitar if i was switching pups , but they came on my jackson and I think they sound good :)

that almost looks like the one that my wife has.

Wait a sec, aren't you a chick?

Contributing to the topic: They rule, the ZR Trem > my soul, but 22 frets = :erk:

Also, on the pickup discussion... Dimarzios are not only cheaper than most brands but they also sound way better. They also have a wide array of pickups to choose from, like the Evolutions, Blaze, X2N, ToneZone, PAF Joe, etc. You just can't go wrong with them.

Yes, you can.

They are cheap mass produced crap.

Get a hand wound custom made pickup instead from Bare Knuckle Pickups in England. Sounds so much better, and bucket loads more tone.
