Has anyone heard of these.

I had pretty much washed my hands with Ibanez, but there are a lot of good reviews about it, saying that it beat the Jackson Warrier inthat price rang. Find that hard to believe. Anyhow any thoughts.

Fuck the haters, a mahogany guitar with a maple neck is the same regardless of brand, and I love the shape and feel of RG's, so Ibanez wins for me, and I'm sure that one rules!

While I'm not a fan of Ibanez guitars, I have played the 7-string version of the Xiphos and it's awesome. The 7 and 6 both get rave reviews and, like Metaltastic said, the wood combination they have used lets you know it'll have the tone, you just have to decide on the feel. Plus, isn't the constuction like neck-thru on one or both of the models or something? I played it at Guitar Center because I am looking at getting a 7-string again and I like the Warrior body shape. My friend has a Jackson Custom Shop Warrior and it's pretty nice. Sets perfectly in the lap when playing while sitting and it's really well balanced too when standing up.

So which came first the Jackson Warrior or the Ibanez Xiphos. i want to say the jackson becasue the guitaist in my friend's band plays one and he's had it for a long time. I love the Ibanez neck's feel in general, the contour and profile are comfortable.

The Jackson...it's a very old body design for them. Ibanez just unveiled the Xiphos I think at the Winter NAMM last year.

I don't like it. I tried the 6 string with FR it just doesn't feel right to me. Even when setup "properly" at the local music store.

Just swap them out if you don't like them...lol. I don't even care about pickups when I try a guitar, to be honest. If they suck, the only thing I am thinking about is how does the guitar itself feel, play, sound when unplugged, etc. Pickups can be changed with very little effort and they aren't exactly expensive either, especially with eBay. If a guitar comes with good pickups, great...if not, pfft...oh well.

I hope you know that all wood is not created equal. That combination is hard to beat ( Les Paul anyone? ) but the quality of wood in most sub $1000 guitars these days seems to be pretty lame.

I love that body style though I have no love for zenabI, I mean I-been-had, I mean Ibanez. Been there, done that.

IMHO the guitar is not that bad, our both guitar players bought one as back up guitar (main guitars are ESP M-II and a Charvel Randy Rhoads).
They both wanted a guitar that is neck through, nice pickups, floyd rose and that isn't to expensive.
Never had problems with adjusting it or with the sound, one of the best ibanez guitars I used (only that custom made s that I got to play one time was really better).

I've played a 6 string Xiphos at a music shop. Perhaps the nicest Ibanez I've yet handled.

This particular guitar also happened to be set up perfectly. Should probably credit the shop for that.

Exactly, I never even plug in a guitar when I try them out. If it sounds good unplugged it'll sound good through an amp. Apart from EMG's, I think that 80% of pickups supplied with guitars stock suck anyway. Once you played a set of Bare Knuckles / Lindy Fralins nothing comes close.

Man, I've worked with BareKnuckle and also Lundgren pickups before...very nice. I keep trying to get my friend to buy a Lundgren M7 for his 7-string but he's set on the 707tw...dammit!
