Last night's show was really good, although as you probably know I was there for Evergrey and don't really care for Iced Earth. That said, they are still a commanding live act, though I got annoyed with Ripper inserting his Halford imitations into the older songs, most evident on Melancholy and parts of Something Wicked.

I'm sure it's going to take some time for Ripper to drop the Halford impressions...let's face it, that's what got him to where he is today.
So what's the overall verdict from the IE fans with Ripper fronting them on stage now? How does the new material work?

Superbly, especially Gettysburg. I also had no problems with his handling of the Barlow material, save for perhaps Melancholy, which just wasn't as good IMO. I really liked him as a frontman, though it should be noted that he's in real life, quite the geek. :D

Looks like Beyond the embrace is going to support Iced Earth on the second leg of their tour...
