or another big name headliner, I'll go out on a limb and say that it is officially a better lineup overall than this year's ProgPower. Will it be run as well?? There's no way. Will it be more enjoyable? For me, it will.

I do believe the 6-pack's lineup is finalized... with Candlemass and Trouble headlining.

I think any comparisons are in order. We compare bands. We compare opinions. That's all that goes on here but comparing 2 U.S. based festivals is somehow out of line?

I don't think it's a big deal Bear, bro. I think both fests are superb, and it's great that there's 2 like them in the USA! That's the more important thing!

I don't think people in Germany and Europe said, "WTF?! We don't need Bang Your Head or Summer Breeze! We already have Wacken!" or something like that...hehehe

Variety is the spice of life.

It seems as though it was was more of " this fest is better than your fest"

Since no one has ever been to a BW&BK even becuase its the first one I don't think anyone can even comment on it until it happens. I am also planning on going to that event, but you won't hear anything out of me until I actually go to it.

I agree with you Mark, and am happy that there are more fests going on and hope it continues to grow. I just feel a sense of almost animosity here on the forum today and I don't care for it. That and I am sick and am taking everything out of order today, so blahhhhhhhh :yuk:

I'll say that I can only wish the BW&BK fest well, and hope it does really well. This is what the USA needs for the mass media to take notice and say "hmm, Metal isn't dead?!". Maybe then the MTV2s won't bury their METAL VIDEO SHOWS at 2 am at night and wonder why noone watches.

I wasn't slamming ProgPower at all. I was just saying that BWBK looks to be a better lineup for me but I certainly don't expect it to be run as well as ProgPower. That's giving fair credit to both fests I think. I'm just damn glad we have some really good festivals to compare here on US soil.

HEY DO YOU KNOW THE WEBSITE WHICH I CAN SEE THE FESTIVAL!??

I will most likely attend both festivals (assuming I am able to get PP tix). I understand Bear's perspecive: it's really hard to compare both festivals at this point, because we're not sure BWBK is a competently run event yet. On the other hand, though, I really welcome more than one festival in the US because it offers the chance for more bands to get involved--and easier access for those who might consider one or the other too far away.

And while I welcome the additional exposure this might provide for GOOD Metal, I hope to God Metal never returns to the mainstream like it was in the 1980's. Metal thrives best as an agent of counterculture. There's never been as much quality, diverse Metal as in the past 5 years. And I believe that's because it's underground, where only the seriously dedicated survive to produce their music. In short, being below the radar keeps the fakers and media darlings the HELL AWAY.

Thank you. My rant is over. :D

Hmm, I'm new to this 'quoting' business so sorry for the whole quote. I do however feel that 'metal' is still mainstream in this country. All the so called 'nu-metal', in my opinion, sucks. It's all just a rehash of what some other band did 2 years earlier. Turn on any radio station and you'll hear the same stuff. Hell, turn on MTV. Like I said 20 years ago (did I just give away my age?) metal, true metal, whatever you may call it, progressive, power, thrash, speed, death, black, needs to stay in the underground. At least in this country. What we need are festivals such as this to get exposure to people like me who have no other means to even know that these styles of bands still exist. So in short, I agree to the above quote. Keep the poseurs the hell away.
