If i like Anathema i will surely like...

you should definetely check out New Model Army. if you're into deep lyrics this is where to look for them. most of the songs are put into the "independent" drawer, but you better hear for yourself. if you are in search for individual songs to check out, i will recommend some.

Cave In.

They followed a similar progression to Anathema, just in a different field. They started out as a very extreme noisecore band, mixing chaotic noisy metalcore with experimental noise sections. They subtly changed their sound for an album, then suddenly switched to a much more palatable space rock sound. Now, after 4 or so years, they have changed to a very poppy space rock sound, dropping most of their prog tendencies.

Pink Floyd

cause Anathema is the new Pink Floyd

is that so my friend? PF has made a cpl of brilliant albums and so has Anathema, no doubt, but the new Pink Floyd??

i doubt that Anathema is gonna get as big as PF. they just have a too differing background, which is going to 'haunt' them as long as they will exist.
and surely, i wish Anathema the greatest of succes, but on the other hand, i'd like them to remain to the scale they are now, known to a certain amount of ppl, coz we all know that when something gets to the masses, it loses subtlety and that special touch.

yes, there are big similarities between the bands, emotional wise, and perhaps the way they write music. but no, imho, Anathema isn't the new Pink Floyd.

sowwy mate.
