Bolt Thrower is quite possibly the worst band on the planet.

I think bands like Maudlin of the Well, Arcturus, Pain of Salvation are gonna take over....

bands you can't pigeon-hole into a single genre.
 
I think instrumental technical metal is the future, at least for me. No more shitty vocalists, no limiting the song structure to fit the lyrics, and some damn fine music that takes many listens to wrap my head around.

Ok, so that'll never happen, but I can wish, right?

Into Eternity are fairly progressive in their music. There's a lot of technicality in many of the songs, and the alternating death/black/melodic vocals actually work. There are some similarities to the melodic death metal scene, but they don't pigeonhole their style there. Oh well, you didn't like Zero Hour ("Towers of Avarice" was the best release of 2001, no contest) either, so we'll just have to disagree sometimes :)

I remember being at Virgin Megastore, about to buy Iced Earth's Burnt Offerings, when my friend pointed out Bolt Thrower to me. Being the Wahammer-playing nerds that we are, we're like "Cool! Bolt Thrower! And they've got the Chaos symbol!" I would have gotten IE, but he convinced me to check it out...yep, it SUCKED. I gave it to him a week later, and after listening to it once, he offered to pay me the $16 I spent on it.

Hopefully the 00's will have a thrash revival...I'm still pissed I was born a decade and a half too late to catch the first wave.
