If you could 'go back in time' and see ANY band live, who would it be?

I only wish I were old enough to have witnessed the "first wave" of British metal. It's my fav genre/era. I'd LOVE to have see the following live:

Led Zep, circa 1975 (the height of their powers)
Deep Purple, circa 1972 (also, at their heights)

Then, I'd LOVE to have seen DIO:
Rainbow, circa 1976 (THE line-up!)
Sabbath, circa 1980 (new life for the band)

Also:
Bon Scott era AC/DC (perhaps the '78 Powerage tour)
Iron Maiden during the World Piece Tour

Fear Of God, preferably the original line-up with Michael Carlino on guitar, though the live-recording of the gig at the Aardschokdagfestival in 1992, which vocalist Dawn Crosby (R.I.P.) performed with the guys of Wrathchild America, is also impressive. I also would have liked to see Dawn Crosby live with her first band Détente.

Mother´s Finest in 1978 or 1979. Their concert at Rockpalast in 1978 has just been released on DVD, but seeing something on the screen and experiencing it really live while it´s happening is still not the same.

Then I would have liked to see one of the few Atrox-concerts with Monika Edvardsen, and finally, something non-metal:
Kate Bush on her first and only live-tour in 1979.

The Doors - the last concert before Jim's death.
Black Sabbath - after the release of Sabotage
Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind tour
Slayer - Reign in Blood tour

Thin Lizzy - "Bad Reputation" tour
Thin Lizzy - "Black Rose" tour
Thin Lizzy - "Thunder And Lightning" farewell tour
Black Sabbath - "Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath" tour
Black Sabbath - "Heaven And Hell" tour
Judas Priest - "Defenders Of The Faith" tour
Judas Priest - "Painkiller" tour
Iron Maiden - "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" tour
Blue Oyster Cult - "Fire Of Unknown Origin" tour (before switching drummers)
Deep Purple - "Made In Japan" :D
Deep Purple - "The House Of Blue Light" tour
Rainbow - "Long Live Rock'N'Roll" tour
Saxon - any tour (but "Innocence Is No Excuse" would have been dandy)
Baron Rojo - "En Un Lugar De La Marcha" tour
Motorhead - any tour  (but "Iron Fist" would have been really cool)
Angra - "Holy Land" tour
Dream Theater - "Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory"
Heavens Gate - "Menergy" last tour
Helloween - "Keeper Of The Seven Keys -pt.2" tour
Helloween - "The Time Of The Oath" tour
Yngwie Malmsteen - "Trilogy" tour
Megadeth - "Rust in Piece" tour
Metallica - "Master Of Puppets" tour
Metal Church - "The Human Factor" tour
Nazareth - "The Fool Circle" tour
Nazareth - "Cinema" tour
Nightwish - "Wishmaster" tour
Pink Floyd - "Animals" tour
Riot - "Privilege Of Power" tour
Riot - "Inishmore" tour
Rush - "Signals" tour
Skyclad - "Vintage Whine" tour
Testament - "Souls Of Black" tour
Testament - "Low" tour
Transatlantic - live anyway

Megadeth - "Rust in Piece" tour
Alice Cooper- "Welcom to My Nightmare" tour
Iron Maiden- World Slavery Tour

Can I say a festival? Reading 1982 or Donington 1984.

Big D, we got the same taste here, Reading '82 must have been an awesome festival. So I would pick that one too. I can also recommend the live record made at this festival to anyone, there are great recordings from Budgie, MSG, Stampede, Chinatown, Twisted sister, Terraplane , Marillion , UFO.... I don't know if this record is already available on CD, it should ...

KISS as a hungry new young band in 1974, blowing international headliners off the stage as a support act so much they were getting kicked off tours for it!!!!!

I see that Wyv and me share a lot in terms of taste

Anyway, my picks:
Thin Lizzy - "Black Rose" tour
Black Sabbath - any tour with Tony Martin or Dio
Judas Priest - "Painkiller" tour
Iron Maiden - any tour up to "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" tour
Deep Purple - "Made In Japan" tour
Deep Purple - "Made in Europe" tour
Whitesnake - the last tour with Lord, Paice and Moore in lineup
Rainbow - "Long Live Rock'N'Roll" tour
Saxon - "Power And The Glory" tour (on this tour they visited my city, but in 1983. I was only 5 :D)
Dream Theater - "Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory" (*sigh* I missed them in Ljubljana on this tour... :yell:)
Helloween - "Keeper Of The Seven Keys -pt.2" tour
Helloween - "The Time Of The Oath" tour
Yngwie Malmsteen - "Trilogy" tour
Megadeth - "Rust in Peace" tour
Metallica - "And Justice for All" tour
Pink Floyd - "Animals" tour
Riot - "Privilege Of Power" tour
Riot - "Inishmore" tour (I really hope to see them next year with the new album tour)
Transatlantic - live anyway
Death - any tour (God, I'd love to see this band, but that won't happen ever for obvious reasons... :( )
Iced Earth - Horror Show tour (my friend crossed 700km to Budapest all by himself to see them, only to find out the show was cancelled! What a bummer! :D)

I suppose that would be it... :D

TONS!
from ones I havent sene yet (prefer 80s tour)

Baron Rojo (and I will see them next year!)
Cirith Ungol..
Crucifixion (no idea if they played gigs at all but anyway)
Dark Star
Gaskin
Grim Reaper
Girlschool
Gotham City
Forbidden Evil
Heavy Load
Manowar
Medieval Steel
Mercyful Fate/King Diamond
Metalucifer
Omen
Ossian
Ostrogoth
Picture (HOL)
Pokolgep
Saracen
Sortilege
Tank
Tyrant
Voivod
Warlord

list from bands I want to see again is difficult because I want to see all of them again... I just listed bands with special reasons seeing live again:

Battleroar :D
Cloven Hoof - members form first 2 albums
Diamond Head - WITH Harris
Exciter - Heavy Metal Maniac members (Beehler)
Exodus - with Baloff ofcourse
Manilla Road - I don't need special reason to see them again, I just have to!!! Same goes for BLITZKRIEG
Saxon - With Oliver & Dawson
Witchfynde - with Steve Brdiges

and this is only half of it ;)

If I could go back and see LED ZEPPELIN, I would die happy.
Great showlist Wyvern!, Deep Purple Japan indeed, even if just to see Strange kind of Woman :headbang: HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.....A! :headbang:

Excellent list too Sickie:headbang: , and that Whitesnake was terrible overlooked by me thanks for putting it on the spotlight.

I could make a long list of bands I would love to have seen, but if I had to pick one it would be Accept circa 1984-5 "Metal Heart" era.

Accept opened for Maiden on the North American leg of the "World Slavery Tour". I wasn't lucky enough to have seen it, but my brother went (this would have been early '85) and he said Accept raged!

By the way, I picked up their "Staying A Life" live disc a few months back. It's fantastic....a GREAT live album.
But it almost sounds TOO good! Do you know if it's been "fixed" with tons of studio overdubs?
