Would you pull out of Iraq?
I personlly would and concentrate on securing
the borders stateside and smashing terrorist cells
stateside and abroad. What esle can we do?
Saddam is not in power and we have seen that
when you take one out there is another waiting in the wings...
When will it end?!

Leave the main part of the city and patrol the outskirts.
Shoot anyone with a gun outside the city limits and let the iraqis step up to the plate. We should also level falluja ..

if we leave before the government and security forces are trained and in control, there's a greater chance of extremist taking control. we cant allow another Iran-situation to happen [remember Carter allowing the Ayotollah to take over control and take 283 US citizens hostage?].

let's take some of those illegals we dont want to bother deporting and send them over there. we tell them that if they successfully complete their tour in the Middle East, they've earned citizenship in the US.

It's inevitable that an extremist will take over...we'd have to be there until the end of time. The US trained Iraqi security forces will probably end up being the first to jump ship...hell, we practically trained the terrorists ourselves.

We will never know how affective our presence there has been because the military has not been allowed to work as they should. If we could completely unleash our military on that region and vanquish the terrorists, we would all be singing a different tune.
I would like to see the Iraqi security trained but, it ain't going to happen. Too many of them are Shiite and standby watching while mosques are attacked and people are killed.
If they aren't going to take the leash off of our military. Bring them home and put them on the borders. Borders is plural because I want them at the border of Canada too.

Well said. Iraq is like a knife fight in a telephone booth. If we could completely unleash our military forces, there wouldn't be any major problems in Iraq...for now. However, we wanted to win over the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people, and if you're going to attack a country, then then you shouldn't be worried about what said country's people are going to think. Bush wanted to have his cake and eat it too, and you just can't do that in war. If you're going to literally invade a sovereign nation, then you have to do it with all you've got. We pussyfooted around Iraq for four years, and now it's out of hand because we worried about what they thought. You worry about the opinions of other nations during diplomacy, not war. The White House has no clue what war is about.

 You may actually have something there, Sue

They'd be the first to jump ship.

They'd be the first to jump ship.

no way.
it's a perfect solution.

they'd hang in there and you could save money on equipment because you know you could pile 10 - 12 of them into one Humvee.
:err:

There is nothing we could do to win over the hearts and minds of people there. We are not wanted, and before people were happy Sadaam was gone, but then shit got so bad for people that they got to see how good he really was for them.

He ruthlessly kept his country secure.

Iraq will become the new terrorist nation once we leave. Camps everywhere, warlords, tribalism, and closure to the US.

We just need to install a kinder gentler dictator. If the Iraqi's want a democracy they can fight for it themselves.

That's what they did in Fallujah, and it worked brilliantly.

Let em in, let em take over, let em shoot in the air in celebration that they drove out the infidel, storm in just when all their ammo is gone, kill every fucker with a beard and towel, and declare total victory.

Just like in Fallujah.

Nah, the reason his country is such a goddamned zoo is because he forced everyone to live in fear and use terror against their own brothers and neighbours to maintain total control.

Since the Baath party's gone, the ones who suffered most learned the most, and want fuckin payback!

The ones who're now gettin the shittiest end of the stick (former Saddam supporters) are the ones who are leading the insurgency.

It won't end until this generation of Saddam-trained robot killers are all mass-slaughtered and their little children are permitted to be raised in peace.

Which is kind of icky for this day and age. But it worked in the old days...
