I've decided to start making rap beats and selling them online. Seems to be a market for it, and I need money. Just have to dig my midi controller out of the storage unit.
You're not a whore...

The white guy? My big brother. He does it for a living.
Haha for sure, totally understand your terminology here.
Be careful about how much you actually want to make, though... generally, while beats don't take nearly as long to compose/produce as a rock song or something, you'll probably start out selling them for $25 a piece or so.
Feel free to hit me up with any questions about it, though - I've watched my brother go from two turntables to eventually break into the industry, and have tagged along on a shitload of studio sessions and whatnot with him. It's uncanny how similar the rap industry is to the metal industry, though.
Hopefully there will be some actually decent hip hop that comes out of those beats.
Thanks man. I was looking at selling them for around $15-$25 or so for non-exclusive stuff, and substantially more if an MC wants sole rights to be spittin' rhymes ova some fresh ass beat. Word.
Don't hold your breath bro, haha. I'm gonna try to get away with as much as I can while still making them sellable, though. Mebbe see if it's possible to throw some polymeters and stuff in there, maybe sample some palm mutes and growls if it doesnt get too weird haha. I'll keep everyone posted. Mebbe I can throw something up in the rate my mix section, haha.
oh god don't encourage another Brokencyde
