ulcers can be cured... they are just a pain in the ass!

I hope not, I just hope is a pain in the stomach :p

Sir...hope you get to feeling better. A serious question:

No shit. what are some other signs and symptoms? Believe it or not, for the last week or maybe almost 2 weeks I seem to be having this heartburn that I can't shake. If I drink something ice cold with no carbonation like Gatorade, milk, water, or even tea or coffee it seems to be ok, but if I drink anything carbonated (like my beloved mountain dew) then it immediately flares up. It's like a combination feeling of heartburn and a feeling of needing to burp and not being able to. Is that what you have? If so I wouldn't be surprised if I have an ulcer brought on by stress? What do you think? Sound familiar?? If I drink some pepto bismol it goes away almost instantly but it comes back....

Oh Ted welcome to the club. I'm not a physycian but I'll give you some food for though:

  • According to my doctor sodas (as in carbonated beverages of any type) are very damaging to the stomach (especially when drink alone) because the gas causes an expansion of the stomach. The muscle send a signal believing is full of solid and the acids pour into the cavity damaging the mucous membrane on the stomach inner wall.
  • I also used Pepto-Bismol to calm some of the feeling but I came to the point that even that could not help (or Mylanta or any similar product).
  • When I went to my gasthroscopy I was on a day diet, no milk for breakfast only tea, coffee or Gatorade (sounds familiar?)
I know medical expenses and insurance are a drag in US, but if you're cover please go to see a specialist and have a gasthroscopy made. Better safe than sorry.

I'm on two pills right now for a week treatment:

  • levosulpiride 25 mg, three times a day 15 min before each meal
  • esomeprazol 40 mg, twice a day (morning and night)
I don't know if they will be available in US as they are made in Europe, and of course you will need a prescription for them anyway, so please go and talk to the physician. In the meantime cut out sodas, orange juice, coffee (IMO), alcohol , and easy on very fatty food.

I hope you get well too soon, being on it I know how uncorfortable this is, please take care bro.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO EVERYBODY FOR THE KIND WORDS, YOU PEOPLE RULE!

Sorry I scare anyone, I was feeling like dying but I didn't meant to be taken so seriously, my deepest apologies.

It'[s my digestive apparatus. The probe enters through the mouth, I will never let anything enter on my rear end :yow:

Not quite, I drink OJ every single morning is half my breakfast, so it's kind like :yell:

Hehehehe, and it's cerote. How do you came to lnow that word?, it's pretty local as far as I know.

You know how to spell it? where did you learn? I always pictured it being spelled like that everytime I shouted it out.
I was born and raised in the bay area but my parents are from elsalvador, and I probably have spoken more central american slang than english in my lifetime. So there is the source of that.

Thank you, sir. I will try to lay off of the irritants for a while and see if it clears up. In all honesty I drink a TON of sodas..probably at least 4 or 5 a day...caffiene is my addiction...but maybe it's time to lay off of that, too. Damn...old age.

Ted:

  1. Drop the sir, I'm your bro
  2. Please cut out the sodas and definitively try to see a physician asap, the heartburn and the burping is the type of symptoms that shout esophagitis and/or gasthritis. And the sooner is treated the better, ulcers are not only painful but can complicate into something more serious. Health is preciousm let's value it ;)

Oh that explain it big time. San Salvador is 55 minutes away by plane, Central America is a tiny piece of the continent and of course we have a lot of words (including slang) in common (see below).

cerote.(De cera).1. m. Mezcla de pez y cera, o de pez y aceite, que usan los zapateros para encerar los hilos con que cosen el calzado.2. m. coloq. miedo ( perturbación angustiosa del ánimo).3. m. coloq. C. Rica, El Salv., Guat. y Nic. Excremento sólido.4. m. El Salv. y Nic. U. como ofensa o insulto.5. m. coloq. Ven. Suciedad acumulada en algunas partes del cuerpo

I sure hope you feel better soon and get well even sooner! I know all about your pain.

Ooh ted, 4-5 sodas in a day? That's not good for you.

Well that sucks about your esophagus and ulcers and all.. Well my health wasn't exactly great this summer.

oh man, thats funny, I probably misspell all of the porquerias.

Well you got this one right :Spin:

The medication seems to work, I'm feeling fine for the time being. I even managed to eat Japanese yesterday and I'm still fine.

But to know I can't have chocolate is killing me

I don't even if was alright  Thanks for the good wish and hope to see you here when you come.

Sheeeaat, sorry for a late reply  , If it's of any comfort to you, I have had an op a while ago for ulsers, it was lyproscopic, they made small insertions (5) and then they work with probes inside of you. I couldn't eat anything solid for three weeks and I've lost 12 Kilograms in about 2 weeks time. So good luck Wyvern, it's not so bad really, you'll feel alot better afterwards, no more heartburn and all that crap. I think it might be third world stress. Anyway let us know how it goes.

I hate dailup!!! (sometimes the posts does not move up automatically then I have to type some crap like I'm dong now for you to see all the previous crap I wrote) #$%^&^$Q@

Most probably it is stress. Today I feel not so good, I wonder what I may have eat/drink. This thing it's getting me paranoid too :bah:
