I'm sorry, but the Kayo Dot CD sucks.

when the majority of the world prefers Maudlin of the Well. Catch my drift?

I don't think anybody here can say they prefer Kayo Dot over Maudlin of the Well...
well two things:

1. reference this thread and you'll find at least one person who is not in the band who prefers the kayo dot album over motw thereby proving your point wrong.

2. i respected your difference of opinion until you posted your recent statements. you obviously did not notice that some of our fans whom you called "ass-kissers" have actually tried to debate with you on why you musically like the songs or not in an intelligent and pleasant manner but instead you respond in a volatile and ignorant way. this saddens me.

and seriously if you have real criticisms of the album I would like to hear them. Like xfer said, it's not a perfect album and there has to be valid criticisms to be made.

So let's hear them?

I prefer Kayo Dot over Maudlin of the Well. In fact I haven't been able to listen to Maudlin since "Choirs..." came out. To address one of your points about people kissing the ass of the band members, I don't believe at all that me or anyone else saying that Choirs of the Eye is good will have any effect on their future albums. Perhaps someday Kayo Dot will pull an Ulver on us and release electronic music, which is fine as long as they are staying true to themselves. By going back to Maudlin of the Well they would only be giving into fans like you who can't seem to let go. You have 3 fine albums to listen to and enjoy, now fuck off homophobe.

Personally, I see no reason neither to compare motW with KD nor to engage in conversation with a character whose principal intent is to antagonize.

that McDonald's insult was way weak, dude. and as a motW fan, you should be conscious of the way that fag-shouting impugns your entire review.

You also very purposely avoided the second half of my "do you just not like long songs" question--if they just drone on and on and accomplish nothing, then why don't you explain how the very substantial things that occur fail to accomplish anything? or is this more of your general sense of just not liking it?

That McDonald's insult was the icing on the cake. Surely he realizes that his post was just as big as yours, xfer... so I guess he's speaking from experience. Well jerkface, never fear... I'm sure Burger King, Wendy's, White Castle, or Taco Bell is hiring. Good luck on the job hunt! Remember in the interview, it's ok to converse in your normal manner with your potential employers. They probably like to be called by racial slurs, insults, and cuss words! Remember, if you don't know the answer "fuck if I know" will work wonders.

I hate when people say something sucks without giving reasons, except when it's like Creed where it's a given.

I also like Kayo Dot more than motW, but I listen to motW alot more, if that makes any sense.

Kayo Dot is a very rewarding but also draining listen, it really demands your full attention, where as motW has more general "rocking out" moments and is not as difficult to consume.

CotE is one of those rare CDs where you can discover something new you haven't heard before in every listen even after 100s of spins.

I've have played it to friends who have said it's unlistenable but that's what cool about music, everything stirs a different reaction from each individual person...except Creed, of course.

I agree with the point being made here: If you feel the compulsion to tell the forum at large that the album sucks, do it in an articulate, intelligent, and non-insulting fashion or your argument will lose credibility. And do not make assumptions about people's reasons for preferring COTE over MOTW. As far as being an ass-kisser goes, sure I may give off that impression defending the album in the presence of the band, but while I do think Choirs is among the most challenging and innovative music I have heard in a long time and the songs justify their length, it is not without flaws and large parts of it do appear random at first glance and the vocals don't always work.
