iMac Core2Duo 24" as a DAW

hi there folks,
anyone of you ever tested these with audio editing ?
In fact i like that thing itself, got some experience with macs
and osx, my decision to get one could only be jeopardized
by its audio suitability.
The downsides are obvious right?
Could a external interface via ff800 produce the same
latency as a internal one? atm using the audiophile 192 and
don't want to downgrade in terms of latency or sound quality.
is latency with the rme 800 actually as low as 3 ms ?
Is it possible to use VSTs with Logic?
Any general opinions appreciated!

No, Logic uses AU.

The RME will absolutely blow your 192 out of the water.

You'll be able to get 3ms latency with enough RAM, yes.

i know fxpansion's rtas to vst wrapper works surprisingly well. i always had doubts about the 'wrappers', but;

it works awesomely in protools 7.3
