I endlessly hype records based on the following criteria:

• How many Pitchfork points listening to them will get me.
• How obscure I perceive them to be.
• How many bands I can name drop while hyping them.
• Obligatory unrelated Interpol reference.

I always refer to albums as records because it makes me sound more sophisticated and trendy.

I rarely read Pitchfork. One of my favorite bands right now, a TOTALLY OBSCURE INDIE FOLK BAND THAT RECORDED HIS ALBUM IN NORWAY BUT IS WASHINGOTN!, Mount Eerie has gotten horrible reviews on Pitchfork. In fact, Pitchfork's search section does not even work on my computer. So I use RECORD SHOPS to find new music.

I don't name drop ever, except Interpol. I simply recommend them in the context of the thread. And if I name obscure bands in the hope they get discussed and discovered on here than I see no issue with that.

Abhoth were one of the first bands in the Sweden scene so i am pretty sure that they had a big influence on future bands in the scene.



Considering Interpol is my favorite band I dont think that I drop random names to sound intelligent or distinguished. Considering I drop there name a bit to much. I doubt you can catch times that I drop a lot of random bands that are unknown for the sake of being distinguished. Furze being one, and the only reason I got into them is because Blue Wizard was looking into him and I had only heard a but from him.

I stand my ground that Abhoth has some amount of importance on the Swed scene just like a few little bands had importance in the Black Metal scene. Just go read some interviews with Fenriz. Is anyone into Abhoth btw?

Abhoth is excellent considering I almost never listen to OSDM.

Listening to Depravity-Silence of the Centuries
Holy shit this stuff is amazing. I can rate this as one of the better but never known OSDM bands like Abhoth.

Fun Fact:Elias Viljanen from Sonata Arctica was in this band!
